“In this investigation, the effect of Matricaria chamomilla extract on linear incisional wound healing was studied. Thirty male Wistar rats were subjected to a linear 3 cm incision made over the skin of the back. The animals were randomly divided into three experimental groups, as control, olive oil, and treatment. Control group did not receive any drug

or cold cream. Olive oil group received topical olive oil once a day from beginning of experiments to complete wound closure. Treatment group were treated topically by M. chamomilla extract dissolved in selleck olive oil at the same time. For computing the percentage of wound healing, the area of the wound measured at the beginning of experiments and the next 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, and 20 days. The percentage of wound healing was calculated by Walker formula after measurement of the wound area. Results showed that there were statistically significant differences between treatment and olive oil animals (p 0.05) in most of the days. We conclude that the extract of M. chamomilla administered topically has wound healing potential in linear incisional wound model in rats.”

is a membrane glycoprotein that is expressed in various cancer cells and is involved in tumor invasion and metastasis by inducing stromal fibroblastic cells to produce matrix metalloproteinases. This study was carried out to evaluate the correlation between CD147 expression and various clinicopathologic this website parameters, including histological grade and prognosis in a small sample set of human ovarian cancer patients. Material and Methods: Paraffin-embedded surgical tissue samples from 25 SYN-117 molecular weight patients with ovarian serous and endometrioid adenocarcinoma were stained with anti-CD147 antibody (monoclonal antibody 12C3: MoAb 12C3) for immunohistochemical analysis. Results: CD147 protein was expressed in 84.0% (21 of 25 cases) of cancerous lesions, but not in normal

lesions. CD147 expression by ovarian cancer cells was inversely correlated with overall survival. There was no correlation between CD147 expression and histological grade. Conclusions: These results suggest that measurement of CD147 expression may enhance the understanding of the pathophysiology of epithelial ovarian cancer.”
“A solid phase microextraction sampling method using pencil-lead fibre coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to monitor the organic volatile compounds of the roots, leaves and gum of Astragalus compactus. Under optimised conditions, a range of volatile compounds were recognised in different parts of A. compactus. Based on the results obtained, the nature and level of the volatiles vary in distinct parts of the plant. In comparison with other Astragalus species investigated, only one volatile organochlorine compound, tetradecane,1-chloro, was identified in roots. Intriguingly, the toxic chlorinated component was not detectable in the gum samples.
